Sculpture "Dainuojantis medelis" ("The Singing Tree")

This sculpture has found its way to the courtyard way before it was finished, when it only had one street lamp and unfinished pavement all round. After a few particularly chilly autumns and cold winters, the city needed a sense of summer and warmth again, so the owners of Friedrich Passage decided to build an “everlasting” tree where birds could sing despite the cold. This sculpture was even sent to Japan, where it won second place in an international competition. (Author L. Lesčiauskas)
