STREET ART FESTIVAL in Klaipėda - EDIT | Klaipėda Street Art OPENING
The Street Art Festival is coming to Klaipėda Seaport to fill its public venues with unexpected and innovative works: wall paintings, installations, and architectural interventions. The high spot is “Baltija” ferry cruising in the New Ferry Terminal, with the new “face” to be designed by the artist Ricky Lee Gordon from South Africa​.

“Lauksnos” (illuminated, luminaries) is a unique, one-of-a-kind Lithuanian event which represents UNESCO-protected elements of traditional culture – masterpieces of oral tradition, music, folklore. The festival will take place on 13-16 July.

SPECIAL PROJECT of “Klaipėda – LITHUANIAn CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2017”: costumed musical PARADE “pathway of KLAIPĖDa’s history”
The project PATHWAY OF KLAIPĖDA’S HISTORY, as part of "Non-Freezing History" platform, presents the city's key historical highlights in various venues of the seaport. On 20 May, the project will invite you not just to be spectators, but to become participants of four historical performances. 
1. Klaipėda – The City of Kings
In 2017, we are celebrating the 210th anniversary of Klaipėda (Memel – on that time) becoming the temporary capital of the Kingdom of Prussia for one year, a shelter for the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III and Queen Louise. In commemoration of this historical event, residents of Klaipėda will have a unique opportunity to stay among the Queen Luise, King Friedrich Wilhelm III and their family. As part of the event, a lively picture of the royal family will be created, with background music of the early 19th century playing. Spectators will be able to posh themselves up in that period’s clothing and take pictures with the royal family in the corresponding atmosphere.

2. Early Music and Klaipedians
This performance will carry the audience away to the 16th century, to the feasts of the city ​​nobility, with the streaming music and dances. The spirit and atmosphere of that period will be revived by the music and dance band “Dolce Muzica”, whose members play a variety of early musical instruments and dance historical dances: allemande, pavane, gagliarda, various bransle, etc.

3. “7 Stories of Klaipėda”
In whose memory was the “Arka” Monument erected? What used to be in the place of today’s Revival Square? You will find answers to a variety of questions of history during the artistic composition. Students of the University of Applied Social Sciences will recite seven stories out of the past of Klaipėda. Project music – composer of electronic and ethnic music from Klaipėda, Kristijonas Lučinskas.

4. The early 20th Century on the Streets of Klaipėda“
Actors of Klaipėda Youth Theatre, in pleasant modern theatre language, will perform musical interpretations of the seaport’s historical characters. The actors will play sailors, soldiers, street traders out of the beginning of the twentieth century, create the atmosphere of that time by singing street songs and beating the rhythm of herring barrels.

Sleeping ghosts and history of Klaipėda Sculpture Park are going to awake here on one evening of May. The stories will be accompanied by music and theatrical performances. This is a joint project by Lithuania Minor History Museum, Klaipėda Puppet Theatre, and Klaipėda University Academy of Arts. We invite you to hear, feel, and see the most secret, ancient, and mysterious stories of the Park.

The Hope City is the first Lithuanian and Eastern European cluster of social, cultural, health care services, spiritual support, research and innovation, with the mission to help minimising a social exclusion of members of vulnerable social groups, to return them bacj to active life, promote social and economic development of Klaipėda and Lithuania as a whole.
The unique support campaign, taking place in Klaipėda, is aimed to raise funds for St. Francis Canser Support Centre and to seek support for cancer patients. The success of the “Running of hope” campaign encourages initiators, brothers of Klaipėda St. Francis Monastery, to call people, believing in the light of hope, to run through Klaipėda over and over again.
