On 13–16 July 2017, Klaipėda city (Lithuania) will host International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival “Lauksnos”.
It is the first event of its kind in Lithuania, representing only traditional cultural elements protected by UNESCO: traditional oral, musical culture and folk art masterpieces of the world's nations. Symbolically, 'lauksnos', a word of the extinct Prussian language meaning 'stars', 'lights', has been chosen as the name of the festival.
Festival “Lauksnos” has been granted the patronage of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO and is included in the programme of events of Klaipėda – Lithuanian Capital of Culture 2017.
The festival will present a broad spectrum of protected and protectable traditional cultural elements: exclusive singing, music playing traditions, ritual folklore, original crafts and unique traditional art phenomena of the world's nations, as well as the results of the search of harmony of different traditions.
We invite you to follow the news and participate in the first festival.
